Lesson From John Watson

Today the radio crew had some practise going through their segments of the show to see if John Watson would approve and if not, what they would have to improve upon.

Everyone gathered around table, and started to practise their parts of the show as if the show was live and recording. As the practise run-through progressed, everyone knew what they had to improve upon and why. It could've been a simple re-arrangement of words if the sentence didn't make sense. After all, practise makes perfect! Tips we got told from John are too repeatedly repeat you're speech until you know it of by heart; this way you will sound more professional & like you know what you're talking about. Also when you're recording sound like you're talking to someone who is right in-front you this way you will feel less intimidated if you mess up!

Practise for Live Shows

John has been helping us to prepare for our live show on Thursday 30th June. The show will played through the speakers around the school at 8:15am. 

The show features the usual segments: Movie Matters, F1, TechTime, Gossip, Music, YouTube and News.

Here's a photo of us rehearsing - with Nathan, Jamie and James as our presenters. They had lots of great banter ready for the live show!!

Trip to Wave 105

Thank you to Wave 105 and Wildern Radio, for giving us the opportunity to work with the ‘South’s biggest radio station’, Wave 105!

Having parted from school with the sun shining, we arrived at the Wave 105 studios in time for lunch. We met with Simon Clarke who talked us through how a commercial radio station works – from choosing songs, to the target audience, to even experiencing live radio.  It was truly a unique and inspiring experience, which was only made possible by Wildern Radio. 

At Wildern Radio we are constantly learning and developing through such tours and experiences like this recent one. And with our advanced equipment and new knowledge we are constantly improving.

Open Evening 2015

Welcome to the Wildern Open Evening and what a good start is has already been. PJ, Matthew and I have really enjoyed helping out at Wildern Open Evening 2015. And as a new member of the team, what a great few weeks in Wildern Radio it has been.

Here's PJ interviewing Matthew about Open Evening...

It doesn't seem like a year since we were in the same shoes as the year 6's here tonight! All 3 of us were all thinking the same thing on open evening... we wanted to join this amazing, inspiring club when we joined Wildern in Year 7!
